TCU places second at Cameron University

TCU Forensics placed second in team sweepstakes at the Cameron Christmas Swing this past weekend at Cameron University. The Frogs took a squad of six to Lawton, Okla. for the annual swing.
Part one of the swing proved successful for the Frogs, with Kelsey Fahler earning first place in pentathlon.  This award is an overall performance award, requiring students to compete in at least five events that include both oral interpretation and public address.  Fahler was also the day one champion in communication analysis and poetry interpretation. Fahler and newcomer Shane Brundy also took sixth in duo interpretation. Timothy Betts added to the Frogs’ success with a third place finish in poetry and seventh in overall speaking awards for parliamentary debate.
The squad raked in more hardware on day two. The Frogs were lead by Timothy Betts who earned first place in the pentathlon. He was day two champion in communication analysis and third in persuasion. Betts also took second in extemporaneous speaking, impromptu speaking, and poetry. Katie Brown was the day two champion in persuasion. She also took fourth in extemporaneous speaking and impromptu speaking. Paige Michel added to the Frogs’ success with a fourth place finish in persuasion and Andria Miller took fourth in after-dinner speaking. Kelsey Fahler was third in the pentathlon competition. She took second in communication analysis and third in duo interpretation with partner Shane Brundy.
The Frogs will return to action after the holiday at the It’s Not 30-Below Swing at TCU on Jan. 16-18. TCU Forensics will travel to Marshall, Texas the following week to take on the Great Debaters of Wiley College.
